“Lindsey’s presentation was captivating and heart-warming. Readers of all ages enjoyed learning about her amazing books and the process she goes through when developing stories... It was honestly the best author visit I’ve ever participated in, and everyone left wanting more.”

—Jackie Wynkoop, Instructional Coach

“Lindsey brings so much genuine joy and excitement to be with students. Her presentations offer insight into her writing process as well as a look at the events that inspired her stories. Students really enjoy hearing Lindsey talking about her own childhood and leave with the understanding that the events of their everyday lives could be written into quality stories. Reading Lindsey's books and welcoming her into our school allowed for some of our most powerful literacy experiences for both students and teachers.”

—Elizabeth Shelley, Elementary Librarian

“Lindsey immediately connected with our students with her calm and authentic personality. Her personal anecdotes resonated with many of our students and inspired our budding writers to give some new strategies a try. They all had something new to add to their stories, along with a newfound enthusiasm, after her presentation. We can't wait to have her join us again!”

—Monique Tetrault, 5/6 teacher

“Listening to Lindsey talk about her process from idea to publication was magical. I’ve seen a lot of authors present at school visits, and I feel confident in saying Lindsey is one of the best. The kids were hanging on her every word. The kids were so eager to write after she left. It almost felt like she was a football coach giving a pre-game speech. Heck, she even made me want to write!”

—Colby Sharp, 5th grade teacher and co-founder of the Nerdy Book Club

“Having Lindsey visit both my physical classroom and later my Zoom classroom was incredible. Her ability to relate and connect to my students as readers and writers was inspirational to all of us. She clearly is a teacher at heart and so gracefully leans on her educator skills to engage students in dialogue about reading, writing and the world. She made students AND myself feel like we were truly a part of her community as a writer and empowered us to see ourselves as critical readers and writers as well.”

—Lisa Hanna, 5/6 teacher

“I can't say enough positive things about Lindsey Stoddard's visit with our group of 6th graders. The students were working on a creative writing piece, and we asked Lindsey to talk to them about developing characters. Lindsey arrived with an amazing presentation that took the students through her process of creating the character Bea from her book Bea is for Blended. Lindsey showed pictures from her childhood, read from her writing journals, and walked the students through the development of Bea from a fuzzy idea to a fully realized character in her novel. Along the way, Lindsey provided our students with specific, concrete ideas that they could think about when creating their own characters. Lindsey then led the students through a short writing prompt to get them started. For the rest of the creative writing unit, the students talked about Lindsey's advice and applied it to their stories.

Lindsey is a master at handling a middle school audience. It is clear that she has spent time in the classroom and that she truly enjoys working with kids. Her presentation style kept even our toughest audience members engaged. At this point, we consider Lindsey a part of our teaching team. The Blue Team students can't wait to have her back again...thanks Lindsey!”

“Lindsey’s visit was an inspiration to our entire school community! We had the good fortune of having her with us for an entire day and each grade in our building was able to experience her magic. She effortlessly connected with students, igniting a passion for storytelling and reading while uniting us across our school-wide read of ‘Brave Like That.’

She shared details from her own life and thoughtfully explained how she uses these small moments to build her stories. We saw samples of her writing notebooks, photographs from her childhood, and heard stories from her days as a classroom teacher. It was impossible to not be engaged as she gave so much of her heart to us during her visit. The memory of our time with her will be one that we all cherish for years to come. She is the “real deal” and we all feel truly lucky to have had the opportunity to spend the day in her presence.”
